dream hotels: a haven in prague

Saturday, October 30, 2010

It's my dream to one day visit Prague with my baby. The atmosphere, the gorgeous architecture and and the historic cobbled streets are already enough to make me want to stay there and that was before I stumbled upon this gem of a hotel. The Hotel Leonardo is a luxury hotel with a price that doesn't aim to empty your pockets. Their decor, suites and restaurants are intricately done to offer the most romantic and scenic environment for your stay. These photos will now be a permanent fixture in my dreams.

interior ideas: mirror, mirror on the wall

Thursday, October 28, 2010

Lately I've been playing around with the idea of putting a large mirror in our living room or in our entré. I figure it would be a great way to give an illusion of space, as well as offset the mundane-ness of the white walls (that we can't paint over since we're renting). After browsing I came across these amazingly ornate mirrors from graham&green, one of my favorite online decor inspiration stations. They could brighten up any room, don't you think?

etsy finds: woodland plushie friends

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

I've been completely inspired by the lovely Sleepyking, who's pretty much the queen of the cutest plushies you can fine on Etsy. Her woodland critters are often sleeping, always cute and lovingly hand-sewn together. Looking at these make me want to go out and buy some felt, buttons and thread to create my own little critter friend... no idea yet what I'd make, perhaps a couple of bunnies or a baby deer!

foodography: la tartine gourmande

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

Recently I've been in a chocolate mood, having taught a friend how to make cupcakes over the weekend, I've been looking for other ways to expand my baking repertoire. I found La Tartine Gourmande's adorable little site, filled with gorgeous food photography and lovely, original recipes. Béa, the talented lady who runs the food blog is French and living with her American husband in Boston, hence you'll see quite a few nods to french cuisine in her recipes. Here are some of her amazing chocolaty creations, visit her site for more recipes and kitchen inspiration.

trip to zuttoworld

Saturday, October 23, 2010

Russian-based digital illustrator Zutto has a pretty impressive portfolio. Her work is extremely colorful, sometimes dark and always cute. Whether it's illustrations bathed in monochromatic shades of blue and grey or full explosions of rainbow colored scenes, Zutto's work is always a feast for the eyes.

Friday, October 22, 2010

The photos for this collection of lonely hearts lingerie is filled with innocence and a subtle sexiness. I love their unique designs matched perfectly with powder nude tones. The photography here is soft and romantic, and showcase a delicate side to lingerie which makes this label stand out from the rest.

home sweet home

Thursday, October 21, 2010

After a year of living in a tiny studio apartment in Paris, me and my husband decided to move to lovely little 1 bedroom just 5 minutes west of the city. It's next to one of Paris' grandest shopping malls complete with cineplex and everything else we need, including a great view of the Sacre Coeur, a balcony on the 6th floor and the sparkling lights of the Eiffel Tower in the distance.

After the wind-down of the wedding(s) I've been itching to get our apartment decorated and done up nice so I'll be posting some work-in-progress photos soon. Now that we've welcomed our new kitty, it's really starting to feel like our little home sweet home :)

artist ave: courtney brims

Before you do anything else, check out the fabulous website of the equally fabulous Courtney Brims, whose work has already made her way across the bloggosphere. I’ve always loved the simplicity and uniqueness of graphite pencil art and her work is just sublime. Whether it’s animals and nature or girls lost in fairytales, this Brisbane artist’s illustrations draw you into a storybook world reminiscent of the nature and childhood daydreams.

fav photographers: tom mannion

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

I've been a fan of tom mannion's work for a while now. What I love about his photographs are their ability to transport you into the surreal world that he sees from his camera lens. His images are not only breath-taking, they leave a vivid memory of an idealistic scenery not easily forgotten.

thursday's child has far to go...

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

I've always has an affinity with this childhood poem, having found out that I'd been born on a Thursday. Everyone has their own variations on what it might mean, but I choose to see it as a premonition that Thursday's children are meant to travel far and wide, and have since made that my mantra. The only thing I love as much as traveling is crystallizing those travels and the memories that come with them in photographs. Hopefully my collection of photos from all my escapades from one country to another will continue to grow and to kick start things, here's a preview from some of my favorite cities.

I'm so happy I stumbled onto mmim's etsy shop. She makes these amazing wooden creations, ranging from photo frames to gorgeous little boxes (I'm such a sucker for tiny boxes) using a mix of hand-painting and scrap-booking. I'm in love with everything she's made especially since all her items have such a vintage feel to them. Here's some of my favorites from her, don't forget to check out her etsy for more!

beautiful bentos

Friday, October 15, 2010

I've always had a fascination with japanese bentos, how perfectly decorated and delicious they are. Some of them almost look too good to eat. I've been seriously considering putting my wifey skills to use by making some nice bentos for my husband to bring to work albeit not as cute as these ones made by the talented Bento Business. Nevertheless it's always great to be inspired and that's exactly what these creative creations are. And for those of you who are looking to buy some bento boxes and start experimenting with your own cute packed lunches, check out Bento and Co where you can find a huge variety of bentos and bento accessories to choose from.
